MESHBORNE Dolomiti series · Volume 1

Real places.
More reasons to land.

DOLOMITI VOLUME 1 recreates selected real-world locations around the Sella massif and the neighbouring Dolomite valleys and passes for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Coverage spans Val Gardena, Passo Sella, Passo Gardena, Colfosco and Corvara, Alta Badia, Arabba and Passo Pordoi, selected sites in Val di Fassa, Marmolada and Fedaia, and the Falzarego–Lagazuoi–Cinque Torri area.

With 44 recreated mountain huts, 82 lift installations and 26 selectable helicopter landing sites, Volume 1 focuses on the buildings and mountain infrastructure that make these destinations recognisable. Animated cabins and chairs bring movement to the mountains, while selected locations around Puez, Fanes and La Crusc, together with the Cortina Skyline connection, extend the scenery beyond the central Sella area.

The aim is to faithfully recreate real locations and buildings using photographic references and geographic data, with attention to their shapes, roofs, terraces, signs and surrounding structures. Fly between valley bases and remote refuges, follow moving lift cabins up the mountainside, or explore the passes at low altitude.

Dolomiti Volume 1
by MESHBORNE

This description covers the Volume 1 core scenery. Elikos Pontives is a separate product. Dolomiti Life, the separate Dolomiti Crosses Volume 1 collection of summit crosses and the hospital sceneries are not part of the core described here.

Volume 1 is the first chapter of the MESHBORNE Dolomiti series, with Cortina and further destinations planned for Volume 2 and beyond.

Special thanks to IlPagaia for his valuable support during testing and his contribution to refining and improving the scenery.

Where Volume 1 takes you
  • Val Gardena: selected sites around Ortisei, Seceda, Col Raiser, Santa Cristina, Monte Pana, Selva, Ciampinoi and Piz Sella, plus the Mont Sëuc cable-car connection at the edge of Alpe di Siusi.
  • Passo Sella, Sassolungo and Col Rodella: lift lines, pass buildings and mountain huts, including Comici, Toni Demetz, Vicenza, Sasso Piatto and Sandro Pertini.
  • Passo Gardena, Colfosco and Corvara: Dantercepies, Jimmi Hütte, Frara, Col Pradat, Col Alt, Boè and surrounding mountain infrastructure.
  • Alta Badia and selected northern sites: La Villa, San Cassiano, Piz La Ila, Piz Sorega, Pralongià and La Crusc, together with the huts of Puez, Fanes, Lavarella, Pederü and Scotoni.
  • Arabba, Porta Vescovo, Passo Pordoi and Passo Campolongo: lift infrastructure, mountain buildings, the Pordoi Ossuary and selected hotel and landing destinations.
  • Val di Fassa: selected sites around Campitello, Canazei, Alba, Col Rodella and Col dei Rossi.
  • Marmolada, Passo Fedaia and Malga Ciapela: the three-section Marmolada cable car, summit and lakeside huts, the recreated Fedaia dam and road galleries.
  • Falzarego, Lagazuoi, Cinque Torri, Averau, Nuvolau, Scoiattoli, Col Gallina and Fedare, plus the Cortina Skyline route between Son dei Prade, Cianzopè and Bai de Dones.

Volume 1 concentrates on selected destinations within this area. Towns, terrain and buildings outside the recreated sites retain the standard MSFS scenery; the pack does not replace every building or include every lift in these valleys.

The Cortina Skyline is included in Volume 1. Cortina d’Ampezzo’s wider basin, including Faloria and the Tofane area, is planned for Volume 2.

Mountain huts, hotels and local landmarks

From Capanna Piz Fassa on Piz Boè to Capanna Punta Penia on the Marmolada, the scenery combines remote summit destinations with the buildings of the valleys and passes. Other highlights include Rifugio Boè, Pisciadù, Franz Kostner al Vallon, Pralongià, Lagazuoi, Averau, Nuvolau and Scoiattoli.

The collection includes:

  • 44 mountain huts (rifugi).
  • 11 mountain restaurants and alpine dining huts, plus 3 restaurant locations integrated into lift-station models.
  • 20 hotels, including 9 on or along the mountain passes and 5 with selectable helicopter landing sites.
  • 8 additional guesthouses, residences and apartment properties.
  • 10 bars, kiosks and shops.
  • Around 50 farmhouses, barns and alpine agricultural buildings.
  • Chapels, the Santa Croce sanctuary complex, the Pordoi Ossuary, the Fedaia First World War museum and the Christ monument on Seceda.
  • The Corvara sports complex and playground scenery at Piz La Ila and Rifugio Scotoni.

Selected locations include modelled terraces, railings, stairs, signs, outdoor furniture and surrounding structures. The Porta Vescovo upper cable-car station also features a modelled interior with platforms, walkways and machinery. Other illuminated buildings use window and room effects rather than fully modelled, explorable interiors.

82 recreated lifts

The scenery includes 82 lift installations across 89 sections, with 172 physical stations. The collection comprises:

  • 44 chairlifts
  • 27 gondola lifts
  • 8 aerial tramways
  • 2 drag lifts
  • 1 inclined lift

The 80 animated installations run daily from 07:00 to 18:00 simulator local time and remain stationary outside those hours. Cabins, chairs and drag-lift carriers move along their routes, adding activity to the mountains during daytime flights.

Additional animations on selected installations include opening cabin doors, chairlift safety bars and rotating bullwheels. Eight chairlifts have modelled weather covers; five of these have covers that open and close at the stations.

Two installations are static: the Ferata Gran Risa inclined lift and DMC Europa I–II. DMC Europa is recreated without cabins to reflect its real-world withdrawal from service in 2026.

26 destinations for helicopter flying

Choose from 26 landing sites on the MSFS world map:

  • 16 at mountain huts or alpine dining locations
  • 5 at hotels
  • 5 at heliports, bases or valley landing areas

Mountain destinations include Capanna Piz Fassa, Boè, Pisciadù, Puez, Vicenza, Sandro Pertini, Pralongià, Fanes, Sofie at Seceda, Castiglioni at Fedaia, Averau, Lagazuoi, Nuvolau, Scoiattoli, Cinque Torri and Fedare.

Hotel destinations include Hotel Fanes in San Cassiano, Park Hotel Il Caminetto in Canazei, Sporthotel Monte Pana, Hotel Granvara in Selva and Hotel Diamant at Soplases. The remaining sites are at Canazei’s fire-service heliport, Arabba, Malga Ciapela, Corvara and the Elikos base at Passo Gardena.

The scenery contains 20 sites with H markings and 6 unmarked sites. These are destinations at real locations, but some landing markings and windsocks have been added for simulator use; they are not all exact reproductions of real-world helipad equipment or markings.

The recreated buildings and their surroundings provide destinations for your own sightseeing, passenger-transfer, mountain-resupply and HEMS/SAR-style flights. These are free-flight possibilities: scripted missions, AI traffic and sling-load cargo are not included.

Wind-responsive details and night lighting

A dynamic windsock is provided at each of the 26 landing sites, turning with wind direction and changing its inflation with wind speed. Across the scenery, 26 animated flag and banner sets also respond to the simulator’s wind.

After dark, 158 light sources and illuminated details across 233 scenery models add light to huts, hotels, lift stations and selected surroundings. Windows, lamps and LEDs give the buildings a night-time appearance, with most emissive models switching with the simulator’s day/night cycle.

Fedaia and the details between destinations

The Fedaia dam and the four distinctive road protection galleries have been completely rebuilt and remodelled by MESHBORNE, replacing their inaccurate default MSFS representations with more faithful recreations of the real structures. These recognisable landmarks capture the characteristic appearance of the dam and the covered roads around Passo Fedaia, complemented by nearby buildings, road signs and local terrain adjustments.

Additional road and streetscape modelling around the Canazei landing sites and Hotel Granvara connects the featured buildings with their immediate surroundings.

Compatibility and requirements
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for Windows PC.
  • No additional add-on is required by the core package.
  • Approximately 11.4 GB of installed scenery.
  • Project Lifts can remain installed. Volume 1 includes targeted compatibility exclusions for overlapping lift objects at the lines recreated by MESHBORNE, together with local terrain adjustments. Compatibility has been tested with Project Lifts loading before Volume 1; use that load order.
  • Compatibility adjustments are also included for overlapping default MSFS helipad entries and the tested simfocus autogen-helipads package.
