MESHBORNE · standalone add-on

Every summit
has its cross.

Dolomiti Crosses Volume 1 brings 24 summit crosses of the Dolomites to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, from Punta Penia on the Marmolada to Sassopiatto, Sass de Putia and Tofana di Rozes. Fly over the Sella, Puez, Fanes and Marmolada groups and find the cross that marks each summit.

Each cross is modelled after photographs of the real one and stands at an altitude measured in MSFS 2024 on its own summit. The add-on is a separate, lightweight package: it needs no other add-on and can be installed alongside Dolomiti Volume 1.

  • 24 summit crosses

From Punta Penia on the Marmolada to Sassopiatto, Sass de Putia and Tofana di Rozes.

  • Modelled from photographs

Timber and metal crosses, metal lattices, a stone-filled cage on Gran Cir and the 11 m crucifix on Piz Miara.

  • Heights measured in the simulator

Every cross stands at an altitude measured in MSFS 2024 on its own summit.

  • Clear of terrain displacement

A small exclusion area around each cross keeps the base above the displaced ground.

  • Checked with different settings

All 24 checked in the simulator; three test summits also with VR-level detail and minimum settings.

  • Light and standalone

About 2.9 MB with no dependencies, on its own or alongside Dolomiti Volume 1.

Dolomiti Crosses Volume 1
by MESHBORNE

This is the first volume of the Dolomiti Crosses collection, with further volumes planned.

Dolomiti Crosses Volume 1 is a separate add-on. It is not included in Dolomiti Volume 1 and does not require it.

Modelled from photographs

Each cross is modelled after photographs of the real one. The collection ranges from simple timber crosses to metal crosses with plaques and summit-book boxes, a bell on La Varella, guy-wired crosses, open metal lattices on Punta Penia and Tofana di Rozes, a deep stone-filled cage on Gran Cir and the 11-metre crucifix with its large figure on Piz Miara. The cross on Monte Pez follows the new design documented in 2026.

Sizes and proportions are estimated from the photographs; the models are not surveys or scans.

Seated on the summit

Each cross stands at a fixed altitude measured in MSFS 2024 on its own summit, instead of following the terrain as it streams in. A small exclusion area around each cross switches off the simulator’s terrain displacement there, so the base is not covered by displaced ground.

All 24 crosses were checked in the simulator with standard 2D settings (terrain and object detail 100). Three test summits, Piz Miara among them, were also flown with VR-level detail (terrain 300, objects 200) and with every setting at minimum and displacement off: the bases stayed within about 30 cm of the ground.

Lighter levels of detail let the crosses show up as you approach. The Piz Miara crucifix appears complete and in place from the moment you arrive.

Names, elevations and coordinates

The free interactive map lists every cross with its Italian, German and Ladin names where they exist, the official summit elevation from OpenStreetMap and the coordinates of the cross in the scenery. Copy the coordinates, open the summit in Google Maps or OpenStreetMap, or download the list as CSV or GeoJSON.

Compatibility and requirements
  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for Windows PC.
  • A separate package of about 2.9 MB; no other add-on is required.
  • Dolomiti Volume 1 is not required. The two packages can be installed together, and the crosses were tested alongside Volume 1.
